AUDI C8 RS6 RS7 intake system
Performance Upgrade - Stage 1 : 45-50hp, 49ft-lbs
Stage 1 acceleration 100-200Km/h: Shortening by 0.6s
Performance Upgrade - Stage 2 : 60-80hp, 60-70ft-lbs

The Audi C8 RS6 intake system is the result of extensive development, testing and prototyping. The goal was to meet 2 main criteria:

1. Increased flow rate.

2. Uniform airflow.

The first objective was achieved by exploiting the limited space in the RS6's engine compartment, severely constrained by the underside of the hood.

Eventuri completely redesigned the entire airbox system including the base where the filter sits. It has combined the slam panel with the lower airbox and increased the volume of this area to increase the overall flow rate. In addition, the base has been designed so that the filter sits at a more favorable angle to the turbo inlets. Where the standard airbox has a 90 degree turn from the filter to the intakes, this airbox has a less abrupt angle and this allows for a smoother flow path.

During development, 4 different designs for the lid were designed and tested and the test results showed that V2 was the best performing. Optimized with CFD simulations, this design provides a smooth flow path from the filter to the inlets. The design has a larger volume compared to the stick lid and is more organically shaped with gentler curves in contrast to the stick lid, which is very cuboid in shape. In addition, the openings to the turbo inlets have been significantly enlarged.

The intakes have been enlarged on the airbox side by up to 85% more than the stock intakes and taper gently towards the stock turbos. This increased size significantly reduces drag in the turbos and therefore allows them to work more efficiently. CNC machined bushings and rings were also incorporated into the intakes for structural strength. For vehicles with hybrid turbo, there are also separate inlets available on request to match the different inlet diameters.

This airbox required a custom panel filter and this involved working with BMC who designed their legendary filter specifically for our system. It is a washable 4-layer cotton filter that offers excellent filtration while maintaining low pressure drop.

The complete intake system combines to form a superior airbox, allowing the turbos to reach their target boost levels much sooner and therefore the engine is able to produce more power earlier in the rev range. In combination with a tuning in which the boost pressure levels are increased, this results in a perfect result.

When all goals are met, the Eventuri C8 RS6 intake system delivers on all fronts, allowing the turbos to produce boost pressure more efficiently. This results in improved throttle response and significant performance gains that have been independently tested and increase with higher tuning levels. The performance gains measured are a result of the complete system that has been developed from the airbox base to the lid to the intakes.

dyno tests

The Evneturi intake system has been independently tested both on the dyno and on the road. At higher tuning levels, the turbos require more air and thus the stock airbox becomes a greater constraint. Here are some results from reputable tuners who tested the intake tract.

STAGE 1 TESTING

Dyno testing was done in the UK on a C8 RS6 fitted with a OPF exhaust and Stage 1 software. The car was driven 4 times in 4th gear with the stock airbox and then switched to the Eventuri while the car remained on the dyno. The car was then driven again 4 times in 4th gear. The tests were all performed on the same day and no other changes were made. The chart below shows the highest performance with the stock airbox versus the highest performance with the Eventuri inlet. In both cases, these are the first dyno runs, with the performance decreasing in subsequent dyno runs due to heat build-up. As can be seen below, the intake tract offers a significant increase in power across the rev range. The highlighted point shows the highest power increase in the 60 hp range at the crankshaft. The resulting performance gains are noticeable on the road, with better throttle response and improved acceleration times.

STAGE 2 TESTING

Stage 2 RS6 dyno testing was done in Canada on a car with aftermarket downpipes, intercoolers and Stage 2 software. The values ??shown here are measured on the steering wheel. The car was run several times with the stock airbox and eventuri. The resulting values ??are shown below after comparing the best series and best eventuri results. Again we see a dramatic power gain and as this is Stage 2 the stock airbox is an even greater limitation. The highlighted dot shows the highest rev band gain of 79hp at the wheels.

Each intake system consists of:
