Forge Turbo Inlet Adapter for the VW Golf 8 GTI

 

 

This item replaces OEM part number 5WA.129.635


With the success of turbo inlet adapters for a range of platforms and engine configurations, Forge has taken the opportunity to expand their product range for the VW MK8 GTI. It was checked whether the air flow to the turbocharger could be improved. Upon investigation, it was determined that the OEM turbo adapter was restrictive and in need of improvement. Therefore, the highly skilled development team set to work to design a solution to maximize capacity using our CAD system and physical prototypes.

 

The OEM plastic turbo intake includes a corrugated hose that also disrupts airflow in the intake tract. This OEM part is detrimental to engine performance, especially when tuned. For the best possible gains, a smooth silicone inlet hose included in the kit that seamlessly meets the Forge turbo manifold has been used. It only looks better in the engine bay, but this intake manifold and hose significantly increases volume and airflow, making for the smoothest possible transition from intake to turbo.

 

The turbo manifold is machined from cast aluminum and machined to the perfect tolerance for an excellent fit. According to the manufacturer, this item can be installed in about 30 minutes with just a few tools and can also be easily installed by inexperienced screwdrivers.


During independent testing on a production vehicle, Forge found that throttle response was improved with a torque gain of 12NM between 2000rpm and 2400rpm, while noticeably smoother torque was maintained at just over 3300rpm, along with a slight increase in horsepower at 5300 rpm. The manufacturer promises these figures. When tuned, this increases the performance increase, which usually results in an increase of around 7 hp for level 1 tuned vehicles. This is because at the point of entry to the intake manifold, the surface area increases by 30%.

 

In combination with the FM-FMMD6, the turbocharger works more freely and should certainly be considered as one of the first two modifications to be made on the new 2.0 Petrol Turbo (TSI) (EA888 GEN4 engine) with engine code DNP, replacing the OEM part number 5WA.129.635


   • The Forge silicone tubing in this kit was designed to include an expensive modified silicone inner liner known as fluorosilicone.
      This means that the hose is suitable for use with modern long-life coolants, coolants with organic acid technology (O.A.T.) or oily air.
